Week 1:

  • At your appointment I provide a Saniderm wrap.

  • Please keep the wrap on for 5-7 days to allow the ink to heal in the skin.

  • During this week, the tattoo will have excess blood, plasma and ink under the wrap. It is normal and will wash off once you take the wrap off.

  • Avoid taking off the wrap early as it might expose your tattoo to bacteria, water, and clothing.

  • If the tattoo itches, slap it, don’t scratch it.

  • You can wear the wrap under clothing and bathe with it, just avoid rubbing the edge of the wrap.

Taking off the wrap:

  • After 5-7 days peel off the Saniderm SLOWLY under warm, running water. Do not rip the wrap off!!!

  • Lightly wash your tattoo with warm water and a non-scented, anti-bacterial soap and rinse with more water. Dry off with a CLEAN paper towel!

A&D instructions:

  • Only apply A&D ointment when the tattoo it is dry to the touch and after you shower to make sure that it stays moisturized. Do not let your tattoo dry out (cracks from having dry skin will result in small white scar lines in the tattoo)

  • Remember that a little is a lot. You don't want to suffocate your tattoo! Just apply a thin layer of A&D to your tattoo.

  • DO NOT use Neosporin, Vaseline, or Aquaphor on your tattoo if you lose the A&D packet! These will pull the ink out of your skin because of the chemicals! A&D is made for babies, so it doesn’t have as many chemicals and is more natural for the tattoo. If you lose your pack of A&D, go buy some more (it's $3 at Walmart/ Walgreens).

Week 2:

  • When showering, try not to hold your tattoo under constant water. Clean it and get it dry as soon as possible.

  • Avoid pools and direct sunlight for 7 days after you take the wrap off. Excess water and UV rays can make the tattoo fade.

  • Apply A&D when needed for at least 7 days.

  • If you know you are going to be wearing clothing over your tattoo/ sleeping on your tattoo make sure they are clean!

  • Any physical activities (sports, working out, etc.) is not recommended during the first week after your tattoo. Sweating may cause the ink to come out of the skin!

  • DO NOT pick at your tattoo when it starts scabbing over. You might accidentally pick ink out of the tattoo! Allow the scabs to naturally fall off.

  • Please know that the way your tattoo heals is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY. If you have questions, ASK! Take care of your tattoo in the beginning to preserve it forever!!
